Don't Make Tea

Don't Make Tea is a brilliant dark comedy written by Rob Drumond and directed by Robert Softly Gale.
One of the brilliant things about the show was that it was written and concieved to be accessible to the widest possible audience. The use of audio description, captions and British Sign Language are fully embedded into the script and by extension into the wonderful set designed by Kenneth MacLeod.

I created video for a futuristc accessible TV (which included an integrated live BSL performer) and captions for the show.

Director - Robert Softley Gale
Writer - Rob Drummond
Creative Producer - Mairi Taylor
Set & Costume Designer - Kenneth MacLeod
Lighting Designer - Grant Anderson
Audio Visual Designer - Jamie MacDonald
Composer - Scott Twynholm
The accessible approach also extended to the trailer.
We concieved a video where again captions, BSL and audio description were fully integrated into the design. I really enjoy the unique challenge of this approach - making sure that accesibility is a creative consideration rather than an afterthought.

“There will never be a performance that is totally accessible to everyone, but Don’t. Make. Tea. gets pretty damn close.”

“It’s hard to think of a production that has realized this level of integration so sublimely and acts as a challenge to the industry for future productions to follow.”
